PUNE: The faculties in Pune metropolis in addition to neighbouring Pimpri Chinchwad will stay closed for now and never reopen from November 23 as determined earlier, officers stated on Saturday.

Alternatively, faculties in rural areas of the district will reopen from Monday.

Pune Mayor Muralidhar Mohol stated the choice on reopening faculties within the metropolis can be taken after a overview assembly on December 13.

Mohol stated the choice to not restart faculties instantly was taken after session with mother and father in view of the coronavirus scenario.

Faculties in rural areas will reopen from Monday as directed by the federal government, stated Zilla Parishad CEO Ayush Prasad.

Mother and father had agreed to reopening of colleges from subsequent week because the coronavirus scenario is below management in rural areas, he stated.

The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Company has determined to defer the reopening. Choice as to when to begin faculties could be taken after a overview assembly on November 30, a senior official stated.
